I was retained by Jordan Aviation Maintenance Company (JORAMCO) to provide advice, legal counsel and "assistance" in regard to the company's operations as a Heavy Aircraft MRO. I was asked to address the issues attached to aircraft that had been maintained, but were never paid for by the owners. As a result, the aircraft were "parked" in a remote location at Queen Alia International Airport until released to the owners by JORAMCO. QAIA assesses storage rates on a monthly basis which accrue to the account of the owner often placing the aircraft in legal limbo when the owners are not willing or able to remit to both JORAMCO and QAIA. With the redevelopment of QAIA, the long term storage area was required to be cleared. Working with QAIA, the Jordanian government and the Jordan Civil Aviation Authority we were able to receive a limited permit to "ferry" this aircraft from Amman to Aqaba for storage. I was pleased to see that the aircraft now serves a tourist purpose as an artificial reef adjacent to Aqaba.
